Blue Valentine

I know there's still  a month left for D-Day to come so NO this post is not about Valentines Day. It's about this movie I watched today called Blue Valentine starring the very handsome Ryan Gosling and the talented Michelle Williams. I was so looking forward to watching this movie and had anticipated a lot.

The story is about Dean and Cindy and their life before and after marriage. The plot is basically like every other romantic story:  boy sees girl, falls in love with her, marries her, then a baby and so and so. What's interesting about this very movie is the fact that Dean marries Cindy in-spite of the fact that she is pregnant with another guy's baby (which happens by accident) and later on proves to be a doting father to the very cute daughter Frankie. Along the way, he turns into an alcoholic and does nothing but drink and Cindy has to wear the pants and is the bread-winner but it's quite obvious that he still is pretty much in love with Cindy. Cindy, on the other hand is totally repelled to Dean and has no feelings whatsoever for him (she tells this to Dean when they have a heated discussion). They have their share of arguments but it is when Dean creates chaos at Cindy's work that she finally asks for a divorce. Dean begs Cindy to give him a chance but Cindy refuses. In the end, they go separate ways leaving little Frankie heartbroken as she watches her father walk away.

Yeah, quite an ending. After watching the movie I first thought "Ah! So this is what happens after getting married?". Then later as I kept thinking about it, I realized the correct question I should be asking myself  is  "What should one do to prevent that from happening to one's marriage?"

There's a lot one can learn from the movie so is a  Must Watch but I must advise that the movie contains Adult Content make sure you watch it alone or with people you are really really comfortable with.

There's something else that caught my attention. Something that the character Dean says to his work friends. He talks about how guys and girls have different criteria when it comes to making the decision of who they want to get married to. He says, with Men it's just that one simple thought that counts. The moment a guy finds a girls who makes him think "I want to marry her!", the decision's made. But with ladies it's a totally different case. All their life they keep waiting for their Prince Charming to come and sweep them off their feet but then in the end they always look for materialistic things. As in whether the guy has a decent job or not, his bank balance, social reputation, blah blah blah. So, all those crap about true love shall conquer all goes down the drain when it comes to security, be it financial, social or any type of 'ial'...which I think is totally true!!!

I guess it's time we stop being shallow and choose to love a person not for who he is but who he can be and how he makes us feel.

Thought for the day.

Earlier today one of my brothers, Arpan (16) came to me and gave me a tight hug as well as a kiss. It totally took me by surprise and I knew something was up. After being asked for more than a dozen times he reluctantly told me that he had encountered some guys harassing a poor girl at school and was thankful to God that it wasn't me.

I was extremely touched by his gesture and felt blessed, yet a part of me felt remorseful about the girl. I kept thinking about how bad it should've been to have made such a deep impact on my Lil one.

I would like to request all the Men out there to think at-least once about their sisters back home before saying or doing anything incorrect to a lady . In case you aint got one, think about your mothers. That should do the trick.

Back to Blogging!!!

Been almost a year that I first started blogging. My first blog was full of crappy stuffs as per my BFF Rani Renggannis so here I am with a completely new blog..all set to start this year with a BANG!

It's the 'eve' to Christmas Eve today. Done with all the Christmas Decorations and I'm quite happy with what I've done.  Did a little shopping for the Christmas dinner. So glad that it's not snowing anymore. I have had it with snow for this year. Umm..What else??? Yeah got a new Blackberry to gloat about. It does have a few hiccups yet does the job for me. Planning to get a new laptop soon. Haven't really made up my mind as to which one to go for. I guess I'll take Super's help for this one.

Missed Amol da's wedding which has apparently been tagged as the WEDDING OF THE CENTURY in the Gurung Family but no regrets. Wouldn't have been able to be a part of it anyway since My Maternal Grandpa kicked the bucket a few days ago. RIP Baje!!!

Well..I guess that's all for the day. The modern day Cinderella needs to get back to her unfinished business back in the kitchen sink. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas!!! (As if anyone's reading this.. Heights of wishful thinking I say!!!) ....CIAO!!!
